Getting written or video testimonials from happy customers can be a great way to improve your company’s social proof and increase your sales. Nowadays, people want to hear from others before making a purchase.
But how do you get testimonials? Reaching out can be uncomfortable, and let's face it, our customers are busy people. They might not always have the time to share their positive experiences.
In this article, I’m going to show you how you can request a testimonial via email, and improve the chances that they write you a great testimonial!
Testimonials are crucial—they build trust. In fact, 72% of consumers are more likely to trust a business with positive testimonials (BigCommerce).
In my experience, adding testimonials to our landing page significantly boosted our conversion rates. They've been key in attracting and securing higher-profile clients, proving to be a necessary asset in our growth strategy.
The key to creating a testimonial request email is to make the email very personalized and authentic. Even if it’s automated, it shouldn't feel like it (more in this later). I’ve included some templates for you below, but I highly recommend customizing the email to fit your unique business.
Subject: Your Experience with [Your Company Name]
Hi [Client's First Name],
I hope this email finds you well. It's been a pleasure working with you on [specific project or service], and I genuinely hope our collaboration brought great value to [Client's Company Name].
I'd be incredibly grateful if you could share a testimonial about your experience with us.
If you're wondering where to start:

- Would you recommend our services to others? If so, why?
Of course, feel free to write whatever comes naturally to you.
